Oh My Ombre, Is The Trend Already Over?

Oh My Ombre, this trend has really gotten big… ombre this, ombre that! I like it, It's cute. I know a lot of girls are interested in this trend, so I wanted to give you my opinion. Its great for girls who can't get to the salon every 6 weeks.
No nightmares of your roots haunting you, screaming while you stare into the Mirror, Mirror On The Wall....

(yes, even in my dreams/nightmares I see myself looking into mirrors. I'm an only child, I love a good mirror!)

For the last year, it seemed like every starlet in Hollywood was rocking ombre hair—that half brown, half blonde look. While the style is sexy in an edgy way, it also feels kind of lazy (like, "Omg, do you just really need to touch up your roots?"). So I wasn't surprised when celebs started abandoning their two-toned locks for more classic colors. But is the ombre trend really over? My hunch is no. But I think this summer we'll all be seeing red!       Maybe Ombre - half Red, half blonde.

This look can also be achieved using the balayage technique, but only applying it on the lower section of the hair strand. Balayage allows for more strategic color placement then highlites. Your stylist paints where she pleases, sectioning off smaller ¼-inch to ½-inch triangular pieces. Another bonus of balayage is that it doesn’t involve foils, thereby making it less damaging and time consuming: Being a conductor of heat, foil processes more quickly and aggressively, which can cause color to look brassy on brunettes.

Are you daring enough to try either look?

How to create a smokey eye

Eyes are the windows of the soul. They reveal your confidence and lend individuality to your face. The right eye make up can help in creating magic and getting attention to your eyes. Whether it is the right shade of eye shadow or skillfully applied mascara.

Steps

1. Choose a good concealer. Always choose one shade lighter than your skin tone and completely cover any dark circles. Since the smoky eye is very dark, you want to be certain you have good coverage here.

2. Draw a line along the upper lashes with a black eye pencil. Start thin at the inner corner of the eye gradually getting thicker as you work your way out.

3. Draw a thin line as close to the lower lash line as possible. You can stop either one third of the way in or take it all of the way in to the inner corner. It all depends on how dramatic of a look you want. Play around with both and see what looks best on you. Liquid eyeliner is also very handy to use; try experimenting with both pencil and liquid as you get two different effects.

4. Apply a neutral shade all over your lids right up to the brow.

5. Apply a darker shade such as dark brown or gray to the outer corner of your eyelid just up to the crease. Blend in well. Gradually build up to your desired color.

6. To brighten eyes, apply white eyeliner or eyeshadow to or around your tear ducts.

7. Use a black kohl pencil to line the top of your lashes and smudge it in with a cotton bud.

8. To finish the look, apply lots of mascara, but stop before your lashes start to clump. Two coats of a volumizing mascara should be sufficient. You may want to put a card between your eyelids and lashes to avoid messing up the eyeshadow.

Tips

  • Invest in some good make-up brushes, they help you achieve a more professional look.
  • When applying the eyeliner/mascara, rest your elbow on a table and look down at the mirror. This helps your hand to stay steady.
  • Invest in a good kohl black pencil.
  • A great volumizing mascara that doesn't clump is Max Factor 2000 Calories. It does everything that it says it will. It comes in waterproof black, and brown- so you can choose the dramaticness (like that?! Urban Dictionary)of your lashes.
  • use good quality makeup

Cleanup

  • If you make a mess, tidy it up with some cotton buds or an old (but sanitized) toothbrush.
  • Not everyone can pull this look off.
  • It may take a few tries to get it right, but when you do, the results are outstanding.
Things You'll Need

  • 2 or 3 eyeshadow colors (preferably beige/black/brown)
  • black kohl pencil
  • eyeshadow applicator brush/flat eyeshadow brush
  • blending brush
  • cotton buds/Q-tips
  • mirror

Happy eye smoking! Email me pictures of your looks. BTW you can do a smokey eye with any color. Purple, Hot pink, yellow, get creative! As long as the application is flawless anything will fly.

XoXO, Paula

We've Been Making Some Changes.....

Hello Friends & Clients,

I'm excited to officially launch my new blog along with our new salon name and website.
Obviously the new salon name is The Makeup And Hair Studio (themakeupandhairstudio.com).
We decided to ditch Bridal Hair Divas because when we chose the name we were working full time at other salons and only did Bridal Services on location. Now that we have our own salon we get questions constantly asking if we only do Bridal Hair & Makeup. Hopefully our new name will speak for itself!

I'm using this blog to talk FASHON, MAKEUP, HOLLYWOOD GOSSIP and anything that interest me. I'll be posting videos and pictures as well as answering any questions you might have. Please refer those to info@themakeupandhairstudio.com, subject: Blog.

I hope you enjoy my blogging adventure!!!
